Munroe headmaster Suzanne M. Johnson issued the following statement concerning the termination of Munroe head coach Danny Hood.
As of Sunday, October 10th, 2013, Danny Hood has been terminated from employment at Robert F. Munroe Day School. This action was based on an allegation of improper conduct with a student, which has been sustained. The well-being of our children is our highest priority. After learning of this allegation, Mr. Hood was placed on leave pending a thorough review of the situation. That review is complete. Official communication on this issue will come directly from the Head of School.
At this point, we have asked Mr. Joey Edwards and Mr. Jimmy Harris to serve as interim co-head coaches of the football team. They all have graciously agreed. Jayme Williams has been hired as the new dean.
Our commitment is to provide a safe and nurturing environment for our children, and we appreciate the trust our parents have placed in us to guide and educate their children.
In a television report, Hood’s attorney Tim Jansen said "(Hood’s) never been in trouble before, he had a great job over in Vernon, he took this job as the head coach, they picked him to be the school Dean, and he's devastated by these allegations. He denies it, he denies that he's done anything improper."
Jansen also says the school never approached Hood about the allegations before firing him, according to the television report.
