Havana councilman Don Vickers sent a letter to the board on April 15th, retiring from the town council after 30-plus years of service. “It has been a pleasure to serve with all of you and I hope I made a small difference along the way,” Vickers said in the letter.
Mayor T.J. Davis offered a recommendation to the council for Karen Bass of Havana to fill the remainder of Mr. Vickers’ nearly two years of his term.
Karen K. Bass, P.E. is an owner and partner of Moore Bass Consulting, a Tallahassee civil engineering and land-use planning consulting firm established in 1991, states her bio. ‘Karen has lived and worked in Tallahassee/Havana for 38 years, with a deep commitment to the Havana community, maintaining a high knowledge level of trends, policies and ordinances governing land use, land development roadways, utilities, site design and permitting. She has an extensive background in land development consulting, roadway and drainage design, environmental permitting, project master planning, project management, contract administration, development agreements and zoning, and governmental consulting,’ her bio says.
Karen and her husband Eddie Bass own and operate the Havana Subway restaurant. Karen and Eddie raised their family in Havana, grew their businesses and ‘have a deep passion for the people of Havana and are committed to the vitality of the community.’
Karen Bass’ recommendation of office to succeed Mr. Vickers was approved unanimously by the board. She will be inducted into office at the town’s regular meeting on Tuesday, April 29th.
