College baseball was just buzzing after last Wednesday’s 4-3 FAMU baseball win over the number sixth-ranked Florida Gators.
A national television audience saw Quincy’s own Kendal Weeks come in and get the save in one of the Rattlers’ biggest wins ever.
Weeks came in with the bases loaded and two outs in the bottom of the seventh and FAMU leading 4-2. He enticed the third out and then allowed only one Gator run in the next two innings to get the save.
The win was the Rattlers’ 18th of the year and added another big notch in the belt for new head coach Jamie Shouppe.
Shouppe, in his first year at the FAMU helm, has already led the Rattlers to more wins than they’ve had combined the past two seasons.
The Chattahoochee native has certainly caused a lot of eyebrow-raising about the FAMU program thus far.
Munroe will host a Region 1-2A game tonight at Bradford May Field.
Jacksonville Cedar Creek Christian comes to Mt. Pleasant for a 6 PM encounter.
The Bobcats gained a host spot by knocking off Aucilla 6-5 in the District 1-2A final last Thursday.
A win tonight would put Munroe in another host game next Tuesday against the Christ Church Academy-Aucilla winner, which will also be played tonight.
