LEESBURG 1, 5
The Big Bend team traveled to Albany Tuesday night and came away with a double-header sweep over Leesburg Post 182, bombing the Georgia team 19-1 in the first game before winning a 6-5 squeaker in game two.
Reid Long (Marianna) was the winning pitcher in game one, allowing only two hits and fanning four. He had the advantage of a 13-run fourth inning from the Bears’ bats to coast to the win.
Big Bend had 17 hits in the game with Hunter Jordan (Blountstown), Jessie Strickland (Chipola), Walker Roberts (Marianna), and Tyler Colston (Marianna) leading the way with three hits apiece.
Long and Brad Middleton (Chipola) added two hits each to the total and Long, Jordan, and Roberts all had doubles.
In the 6-5 win, Long singled in Middleton with the winning run, allowing Hayden Hurst (Marianna) to pick up a win.
Middleton also got a pitching save in the game, holding off a last inning rally by Leesburg when Strickland threw out a runner from deep in the hole at shortstop to a stretching Stephen Miller (Munroe) to end the game.
Miller, Long and Franklin Van Gurp (Chipola) helped the offensive cause with two hits each and Jordan knocked in a pair of runs.

POST 13 1, 2
The Bears and Tallahassee Post 13 tied up in two tight games in Chattahoochee Wednesday night with each taking 2-1 wins.
Big Bend won the first of the two with Adam DeWitt (Chipola) outlasting four Post 13 pitchers to pick up his sixth win of the summer in the extra-inning game.
DeWitt gave up only four hits and fanned nine, including three straight in the top of the seventh after the Tallahassee team had put runners on second and third with nobody out.
That held the score to 1-0 in favor of Post 13 heading to the bottom of the seventh.
The Bears tied the game when Walker Roberts drew a one-out walk and Isaac Madrid (Wewahitchka) ran for him. Madrid stole second and scored the tying run on a single up the middle by Will Harris (Munroe), sending the game to extra innings.
The Bears then won the game in the bottom of the eighth when Franklin Van Gurp led off with a single and Hunter Jordan walked. Brad Middleton was then
hit by a pitch to load the bases before Tyler Colston drew a walk-off walk to win the game.
There were no late heroics in the second game because Post 13 pitcher Casey Mathers (Munroe) held the home team to only two hits, both picked up by Jordan. Mathers also knocked in the winning run with a fifth-inning single. Post 13's other run was scored by Christian Kobes who hit a third-inning home run.
Roberts pitched the game for the Bears and allowed six hits and struck out six.
It was the second one-run loss for the right-hander this summer.
The Bears found themselves trailing 3-1 in the bottom of the fifth inning to Ozark Saturday in a game being played at Chipola.
That's when they put together six straight hits to pull off a five-run inning to take the lead.
Reid Long got the first of the hits, singling in Isaac Madrid who had walked and stolen second. Stephen Miller, Franklin Van Gurp, Hunter Jordan, Jessie Strickland and Brad Middleton then followed with hits, putting Big Bend up 6-3.
Hits by Will Harris, Van Gurp, and Jordan sandwiched around walks to Long and Miller helped the Bears pick up four sixth-inning runs to put the game away.
Nolan Haire (Munroe) got credit for the win when he came in the game in the fifth and pitched the B
