‘Tis the season for bowls and here’s my picks for games from December 26 through January 1.
On the 26th, Pitt will clip Bowling Green in the Little Caesar’s Pizza Bowl and Northern Illinois will best Utah in the Poinsettia Bowl.
On the 27th, Maryland will get by Marshall in the Military Bowl, Minnesota will knock off Syracuse in the Texas Bowl, and Washington will beat BYU in the Fight Hunger Bowl.
The 28th will see Notre Dame blast Rutgers in the Pin Stripe Bowl, North Carolina ram Cincinnati in the Belk Bowl, Miami rain on Louisville in the Russell Athletic Bowl, and Kansas State claw Michigan in the Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl.
On the 30th, Navy will sink Middle Tennessee in the Armed Forces Bowl, Mississippi will win a shoot-out with Georgia Tech in the Music City Bowl, Oregon will zip Texas in the Alamo Bowl, and Arizona will do in Texas Tech in the Holiday Bowl.
New Year’s Eve will see Arizona bottle up Boston College in the AdvoCare V100 Bowl, UCLA bite Virginia Tech in the Sun Bowl, Mississippi State handle Rice in the Liberty Bowl and Texas A&M work on Duke in the Chick-fil-A Bowl.
New Year’s Day of course is the busy one and on that day: North Texas will cream UNLV in the Heart of Dallas Bowl, Georgia will pass Nebraska in the Gator Bowl, South Carolina will nudge Wisconsin in the Capital One Bowl, LSU will speed by Iowa in the Outback Bowl, Stanford will escape Michigan State in the Rose Bowl, and Baylor will bear-hug Central Florida in the Fiesta Bowl.
By then we should be bowled out. But there will still be five games left including the big one on January 6 when the Seminoles and Auburn meet up.
